Chickpea

The leaves are astringent and used to treat bronchitis. They are also boiled and applied to sprains and dislocated bones; the exudate is used for indigestion, diarrhoea and dysentery. The seeds are a stimulant, tonic and aphrodisiac. In Egypt they are used to gain weight, and to treat headaches, sore throat and coughs. Powdered seed is used as a facepack and also in dandruff treatment.

Warning: The whole plant and seed pods are covered with hairs containing skin irritants. You must always wear gloves when handling.
