The seeds assist with inflammation, and have been shown to assist with chronic obstructive bowel disease.

The fruit is a mild astringent in some fevers, and especially when related to nausea.

The bark can used to remove tapeworm by soaking 50g in 1L of alcohol (such as vodka) for 24 hours, and then combining with 3L of water and boiling down to 1L. Take a 1 tablespoon dose.

The rind is used in diarrhoea and chronic dysentery. Drink 3g of ground rind in a glass of water.

Originated in the region of modern-day Iran, cultivated worldwide
